JANUARY 2009
4th -28th -   "Water World"    To kick off our year, the Council will present an Invitational Exhibition. Take this opportunity to see water in all its forms by 31 of your favorite local and regional artists and photographers.    Reception: Sunday Jan. 4th at 2:30pm.                         

 

FEBRUARY 2009
1st - 20th    "Onslow County's Black Heritage"

In honor of Black History Month, Ann Spicer has put together a collection of posters that show the history of families and businessmen in Onslow County's past. Opening Reception: Sunday, February 1st from 2:30pm to 4:00pm

MARCH 2009
1st - 27th - 31st Annual Student Art Show & Competition

Grades 6 through 12.   Each Middle & High School submits 8 pieces of work to the competition. This show is always colorful, intriguing and imaginative.   Judge:  Hannah Natour. Over 100 paintings will be on display. Awards Reception:  Sunday, March 1, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm.

APRIL  2009
5th - 24th - "Spring Show 2009" Onslow Art Society Spring Juried Art Show
     
Work by artists selected from entries on display at the Arts Council. Take in days are Sunday, March 29, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and Monday 30 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Pick up dates: April 26 & 27. Over 150 paints, photographs and sculptures were entered. Juried by : Jill Everly, Art Department - ECU. Opening reception: Sunday, April 5th from 2:30pm to 4:00pm.

MAY 2009
6th-28th "Coastal Carolina Community College" Artwork by students will be on display. Past shows featured paintings, drawings, sculpture and jewelry. Opening reception: Tuesday, May 5th at 5:00.

 JUNE & JULY 2009
 June7th -July 28th "The Best of Doretta Smith" Local artist, Doretta Smith, will have a show in our gallery featuring at least 38 of her favorite paintings. Come in and meet this local icon at the Opening Reception: Sunday, June 7, from 2:30pm to 4:00pm.

 

AUGUST  2009
 2nd - 28th - "Enchanting Ireland" oils by Bernie Rosage, Jr. Take an enchanting trip to Ireland through the eyes of the artist. Opening reception: Sunday August 2rd from 2:30pm to 4:00pm.

  SEPTEMBER 2009
 6th - 25th "Images 2009"Onslow Art Society Fall Juried Art Show
     
Work by artists selected from entries on display at the Council for the Arts.
Take in days are Sunday, August 30, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and Monday, August 31, from 8:30 am to 4.:00 pm. Pick up dates September TBA

  OCTOBER 2009
4th - 30th - "Tobacco Barns" Jacksonville artists Connie Burke and Stephen Greer, Sr. show will be centered on ans around barns. Connie Burke is well-known for painting landscapes, lighthouses, marches and of course her barns. Stephen is a talented artist who enjoys doing portraits, landscapes and is a member of the local OOPS group. Between the two of them we will see acrylics,oils, watercolor and pastels.
Opening Reception Sunday, October 4th from 2:30pm till 4:00pm.

NOVEMBER - DECEMBER 2009
November - December 24th - COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS'  HOLIDAY SHOWCASE AND SALE     Featuring art, pottery, textiles, stain glass, wood items by Regional Artists.  Come join us for a festive season of Holiday joy, the Council celebrates the holidays with beautifully decorated trees. This is a great way to find just the right item for that special person.
