The Regional Project Grants Program (RAP)provides financial support (from grants of $250 to $1,000) to developing professionals working in any art form, by funding a project pivotal to the advancement of their careers as artists. These grants are intended to fund a particular project that will conclude by......

The RAP Grant proposals will be due by 5:00 pm at .... on ....

  The Council for the Arts is one of 29 eastern county arts councils to sponsor grant.


WHO MAY APPLY FOR GRANT?

1.Artist working in any art form.
2. Must be a current resident and have resided in Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrrell, Washington, Wayne or Wilson Counties for at least one year.
3. Must be at least 18 years of age. May not be enrolled in a degree or certified program at a high school, college or graduate program within the grant period.
4.Last year's grant recipients may not apply in this grant cycle.

Funds may be awarded for expenses such as promotional presentation,  travel,  services,  supplies,  training for projects that will be carried out from the first half of the following calendar year. The Grassroots Arts Program provides an opportunity for community organizations to apply for funding to help with an arts related program that is open to the public. State revenues are channeled through the NC Arts Council.

The Council for the Arts is the designated county partner for the Grassroots funds allocated to Onslow County. These funds are used for many of the Council's activities as well as distributed as sub grants to local organizations.

Deadline July 14, 2008.

The Council's Grassroots Grants Review Committee has the discretion to make award recommendations that it feels will best aid the arts in Onslow County. Applicants must be non-profit organizations with tax-exempt status under section 501 (C-3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will present a "salute to the pioneers in the military" at 2:00 pm at the Field Medical Building aboard Camp Johnson. This event will showcase two literary works featuring the Montford Point Marines and tuskeegee Airmen. Public Art 360: A Symposium from Seven Perspectives is a multi-state convening that will be held April 11 - 12, 2008 at Hanes Auditorium on the campus of UNC-Chapel Hill. The concert entitled "Music is a Family Affrair" is designed for young people and their families. The music is likely to be more familiar and recognizable to listeners because of its use in movies, television and commercials. North Carolina Symphony Outdoor Concert
Due to the excessive heat this annual concert will be at Northside High School at 7:00 pm. This is a free event. Classical favorites from John Williams, Tchaikovsky and Strauss will be featured. Resident conductor William Henry Curry will lead the symphony.

June 26 & 27May 2 & 3, 2008 (Thursday & Friday)
"You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" - (auditions) The Sneads Ferry Community Theatre will hold auditions for the musical at 7:00 pm Sneads Ferry Community Center, 126 Park Lane. The Onslow Art Society's "Images '08" will be accepting works on Sunday (Aug. 31st & Sept 1st) from 1:00pm to 4:00pm both days. Reception and awards will be presented; Sunday, September 7th from 2:30pm to 4:00pm. This is a juried show, all unaccepted works can be picked up the day of the reception. After the judging, winners will be notified by email or phone.
