The Regional Project Grants Program (RAP Grant)
Regional Artist Project grants are awarded to artists in all disciplines on a regonal basis through a competitive application and review process. The grant awards are funded by the North Carolina Arts Council and by a regional consortium of local arts councils. Regional Artist Project grants support professional artists at any stage in their careers to pursue projects that further their artistic development. Grant awards to artist generally range from $500 to $2,000. Types of fundable projects include:
Creation of a new work
Purchase of equipment
Professional development workshops
Travel support for expenses associated with participating in a professional exhibition or conference.
Development or updating promotional materials - websites, brochures, DVDs and CDs.
The Eastern North Carolina regional consortia consists of arts councils from Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrrell, Washington, Wayne and Wilson Counties in conjunction with the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency.

Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge serves as lead for the Eastern North Carolina Regional Consortium, and receives the Regional Artist Project grant applications, schedules regional training sessions for artists, and manages the grant selection process. The Grassroots Arts Program provides an opportunity for community organizations to apply for funding to help with an arts related program that is open to the public. State revenues are channeled through the NC Arts Council.
The Council for the Arts is the designated county
partner
for the Grassroots funds allocated to Onslow County. These funds are
used
for many of the Council's activities as well as distributed as sub
grants
to local organizations.
The Council's Grassroots Grants Review Committee has the discretion to make award recommendations that it feels will best aid the arts in Onslow County. Applicants must be non-profit organizations with tax-exempt status under section 501 (C-3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

United States Air Force Heritage of America Brass Quintet
We are excited to announce that the Brass Quintet of the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band will perform in Jacksonville. The band is on tour from Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. They will present a full repertoire of concert music on Monday, October 18 th at 6:00 pm at Clyde Erwin Elementary School in Jacksonville.
